Welcome to Hooked on Walking holidays and our walking holiday in Germany. This hiking vacation in Germany takes your through the famous wine growing region of Germany. Change between Mediterranean ambience of the German Wine region and the largest, united forest of Germany, the Forest of Pfalz. Get a good insight into wine-growing, even staying on a wine-growing estate. You hike along huge vineyards of Germany’s 2nd largest wine-growing territory with pleasant climate and ancient culture, dating back to the settlements of Romans. Crossing the forest of Pfalz on exceptionally beautiful paths to tranquil places. Enjoy stunning views onto the Rhine-plains and parts of the walking route of the coming days. The region is divided into a Northern & Southern Wine regions. You will cover the northern region on days 1 to 4 and south region on days 5 to 8.

Day 1 Individual arrival Bad
Arrival to Bad Dürkheim during the day. Welcome and tour information in the evening between 5 and 7 pm. Visit the biggest wine-barrel of the world, the health spa or the casino. In September each year a big sausage market, the biggest wine-festival in the world, Hiking Vacation in Germanyis a real major attraction of the area.

Day 2 Bad Dürkheim – Loop tour about 13 miles 21 km , 6 hours
The first walking day is dedicated to the history and present of wine-growing trade. Visit excavation sites of a Roman manor house and the renovated wine-press as well as medieval Freinsheim with very well preserved fortification.

Day 3 Bad Dürkheim – Deidesheim about 12.5 miles 20 km , 5 hours
Explore medieval fortresses and monasteries in and around Bad Dürkheim in the morning. Set out to Deidesheim in the afternoon. Well known and well loved for wine-grower chateaus and the town-hall constructed in the typical local architecture.

Day 4 Deidesheim – Neustadt a.d. Weinstrasse about 6.3 miles 10 km , 3 hours
This day is dedicated to pleasures and recuperation. Walk from Deidesheim across the Pfalz balcony. Here many beautiful wine-growing estates with excellent cuisine and stunning views of the vineyards into Rhine-plain will leave you with unforgettable memories.Wine Tour of Germany You reach Neustadt, the largest wine-growing town of Germany with its historic centre.

Day 5 Neustadt – St. Martin, about 18 km 5 hours
You start today in the midst of vineyards and walk to castle Hambach. Enjoy walking in the Forest of Pfalz, visit stunning scenic view points. In the evening you stay at the border between forest and wine.

Day 6 St. Martin – Landau, about 13 mils 21 km 6 hours
Pfalz has a lot of local colour and histories. Second remarkable point of today is Landau with a charming centre and ancient fortress.

Day 7 Landau – Bad Bergzabern, about 13.6 miles 22 km 6 hours
The southern German wine region has a very unique flair. Enjoy this marvellous hike of vineyards as well as a visit of ancient monastery in Klingenmünster and the ruins of the fortress at Landeck. Visit the thermal spa and historic old town of Bad Bergzabern. We Walking tour in Germanystrongly recommend to visit the local inn “Gasthof Engel”!

Day 8 Departure
Individual departure or extra days. This little health resort has a number of recreational facilities or visit surrounding wine-growing towns.

Difficulty: A level 2 tour. Trips with easy day walks which are interspersed with more strenuous sections. Four to five hours walking per day ( excluding breaks ) in hilly to mountainous areas using well kept but sometimes stoney paths.

How to get there
By Plane to Frankfurt Fraport, Frankfurt Hahn, Baden Baden, Stuttgart and then by train to Mannheim and Neustadt. Then a short taxi ride.
Return transfer with mini-van, duration approx. 30 – 45 min, reservation needed, and payable locally. Costs: 50 – 80 km: € 35.- per person.
